More able to work independently, kids at this age require less direction from parents as their self-direction skills develop. They're learning management skills, much like a management trainee, and we as leaders use a coaching style of leadership at this phase. In parallel, we are reinforcing our foundation by using the FLiP framework that embeds mutually respectful and trusting interactions.
At this age, the true nature of our children that we glimpsed earlier emerges in activities and interests at school, in extra curricular activities and in down time. It is essential that we reinforce the activities that reflect their true nature so that our kids achieve "success" in their natural area of strength, linking it for them to greater meaning and joy.
