As teenagers,  our kids will practice and perfect their skills at managing their own lives before they leave home to continue their education and start their lives independent of us. In order for them to see themselves as capable and empowered, it essential that they be able to develop and demonstrate their success at these skills to themselves and to us while they are connected at home. It is most often through trial and error - as is the case with new managers at work - that these skills develop, and we as leaders must allow our kids increasingly more space to do this on their own.  The mutual respect and trust that has been developing through use of the FLiP framework pays incalculable dividends here.

With the increasing demands of the highly competitive culture, it is now more important than ever to faciliate our kids' participation in activities that support our family's broad vision - which includes time to rest and reflect, and to support them in staying true to their nature. Protecting these activities reinforces the links to our children's natural areas of strength and interest, which are essential to creating a life filled with meaning, joy and success.
